Reduce Pain and Inflammation with Laser Therapy
If your pet is suffering from acute or chronic pain, inflammation, or other wounds, Bardstown Animal Clinic has Class IV laser therapy available. This can be used alone or with other treatments for a drug-free, nonsurgical, and safe way to treat your animal's health conditions.
What laser therapy can do for your animals
Reduce inflammation — dilates blood vessels and stimulates lymphatic circulation
Pain relief — painkilling effects based on the direct effect laser therapy has on the nerve cells, including suppression of receptors that send pain signals to the brain. There is also an endorphin and encephalin production increase which are the body's natural painkillers.
Accelerated healing — stimulated activity within the cells result in increased oxygen and increased production of the energy molecule ATP (adenosine triphosphate) and enzymes. This allows tissues to heal quickly and reduces the formation of scar tissue. Surgical incision and other incisions are ideal wounds to be treated with laser therapy.

Know what to expect
Most pets will have improvement within 12 to 24 hours. Most treatments only last 2 to 8 minutes, and because there is no sedation, they have a calming effect on your animal. A series of treatments are generally needed for complete success and healing.
